Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving Page.

We are running the Liverpool Rock n’ Roll marathon in aid of the amazing Liverpool Heart and Chest hospital. With lots of training behind us and a few long runs to go your donations would really spur us on.

Sarah’s Story:

My motivation behind embarking on this huge personal challenge is my amazing Dad. My dad has always been my inspiration when it comes to keeping fit. Unexpectedly in December 2015 and June 2017 he received  life saving treatment from the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. The staff were unbelievable and raising money for this charity goes a small way in saying thank you.

As well as the LHCH there are so many others to be thankful for. With special mention to our neighbour Louise who carried out CPR with such confidence and courage and demonstrated that it really can save a life and also all the staff at the intensive care unit at Whiston Hospital for all they did. The list of NHS staff is endless, they are all amazing, as are the people who donated blood for the transfusions my Dad received. Thank you.

Ali is one of my oldest friends and we have been on many adventures together over the years! Jo is one of my newest friends and we have run many miles (chatted an awful lot too!) together throughout our marathon training! Its lovely to be able to share this experience with these two lovely friends.

Ali’s Story

It would be absolutely amazing to raise money for this fantastic hospital who helped Sarah’s Dad and my dad last year. My dad went to have a pre-op scan for something totally unrelated, which found he had to have heart surgery. The hospital staff were brilliant and I’m totally in awe of what they do for so many people, especially for what they’ve done for Sarah’s Dad.

Thanks very much for any support to help spur us on, push us through that wall, pick us up off the floor during our first/last marathon. Here’s to crossing that finish line...!

Jo's Story:

Running is a huge part of my life, it keeps me sane in this busy world we live in. Not only does it keep me fit but gained me lots of fantastic friend, Sarah being one of them (Ali - i'm looking forward to meeting you soon!). Hearing Sarah's story (whilst out running) was emotional but it made our choice of charity an easy one.

The decision to run (well, attempt to run) a full marathon didn't come easy (it's an awfully long run...). I had just started back running after yet another injury when Sarah and I started out on this journey at the beginning of this year. Each week we've gone that little bit further, a few niggles and some near tears, we are almost at the end of our training now. Any donations recieved will be at the back of our mind on the big day and knowing we have your support will push us all that extra mile on the day!

Thanks again for taking time to read on. If you can spare a donation it would mean so much to be able to raise money for this outstanding hospital to benefit future patients and their families.
