Marathon des Sables · 9 April 2012

Offering lifelong support to the Royal Marines Family.

Story

The Challenge

Described as the "toughest footrace on earth" the Marathon des Sables is a 6 day, 156 mile footrace across the Sahara desert. As well as coping with temperatures in excess of 49 degrees celsius, I will be carrying all of my own food, clothing and camping equipment for the duration. Needless to say, I'm not hugely looking forward to it.

The Cause

I am running to raise money for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund. The RMCTF, amongst many other fantastic things, provides vital assistance to Marines who return from operational tours with life changing injuries, as well as support to the families of those who do not come home at all. In short, the RMCTF are there to support Marines and their families when they need it most.

Why RMCTF?

I served with the Royal Marines in Afghanistan in the summer of 2011 and experienced the loss and injury of good friends. I know that the RMCTF, above other charities, will do the very best for those who deserve and need our help.

Thanks for your support!
