Story

thank you so much for all your donations, an amazing £1500 raised for @M_R_F !! Please RT X

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 2013, Natalie Dawn O'Shea and i were trying for a baby. in June 2013, Natalie found out she had fallen pregnant and we were both thrilled. She had a normal pregnancy, up until the 23rd December 2013, when on a midwife visit, our little Boy was measuring small for his dates, so we were referred for a scan within the next week

We received a call the next day, and it showed that he was small, although no reason as to why, we were advised to induce the labour on xmas day or boxing day. On Xmas day, we were advised a Caesarian section would be the best scenario as our little boy was very small. We took the advice given from the professionals at Darent Valley Hospital. Aden Nat Pender-O'Shea was born, Xmas day, at 15:58, weighing 3 lb 9 oz. All went very well and Natalie and myself were overyjoyed, best xmas present you could wish for !

Sadly, Natalie became very ill at a rapid speed on boxing day morning and within 2 and a half hours she was sedated, on intensive care, no one in the hospital had any idea what had happened, caused it, or why. We waited, given little hope for 4 days, until we were told she was brain dead, and there was zero chance of any recovery, still with no diagnosis, so we had no choice left, but to let her go :(

We had to wait until 21st of March 2014 for the post mortem results to tell us that the cause of death, was Bacterial Meningitis. This was a shock to myself, family and friends as it had never once been mentioned, and in further talks, we were told that no one had considered it to be this terrible disease.

Bacterial meningitis, and any meningitis is a terrible illness, that works very fast and if not seen in its early stages, can cause severe damage, and sadly in our case, Natalies premature passing :(

I have no set goal in fund raising, but i feel i need to do something to firstly raise awareness at least, and secondly if i can help raise some money for the Meningitis charity that will be a bonus.

I am running two half marathons, The Hackney Half marathon on 10th of May and the Dundee Half marathon on the 12th of July. These places are significant as they are the birth places of Natalies parents.

Thankyou for taking the time to read our page. I love you Natz, forever, & always Xxxxxx

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
