To support Prostate Cancer UK in loving memory of Bakhshish Singh Minhas

Simplyhealth Great North Run 2019 · 8 September 2019 ·
I set this page up relatively late (aka INDIAN TIMING) just 2 weeks before my run - but nonetheless am aiming to raise as much money as possible for Prostate Cancer UK by putting my less than athletic body through 13.1 miles of sweat (but hopefully no blood and tears) on Sunday 8th September.
Sadly my Nana Ji (Grandfather) died as a direct result of incurable Prostate Cancer, so it is in honour and loving memory of him that I am dedicating my Great North Run too. All monies raised will help Prostate Cancer UK in some small way towards their mission to fund ground-breaking research, drive improvements in treatment, and fight injustice in care. Prostate Cancer has become the third most common cause of cancer death in the UK, overtaking Breast Cancer (11,819 men died from Prostate Cancer in 2015,) and is the most common cancer in UK males, with around 45,000 new cases in the UK each year.
Bakhshish Singh Minhas was an immensely well-loved, respected, fair and wise man. He was both a leader of the community, and someone who could be relied upon, when asked, to offer excellent counsel. Positive and young at heart, fond of a peg or 2, noble and of sound temperament. In his memory I run on Sunday 8th and humbly ask you to support a worthwhile charity in his honour.
