CLASP, or Counselling Life Advice Suicide Prevention, has organised a 10 mile walk in seven different cities in the UK. This event, called Walking Out of Darkness, is to raise mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and end the stigma surrounding mental illness. They offer support to individuals, families, and support networks on a range of mental health topics.
A number of the HCH teachers including Katie, Coco, Rachel, Siv, Jose, Clarisse, and, our former Head of Sixth Form, Daniela, are taking part in the ten mile walk through London on May 18th. We are raising money for Kingston Samaritans. HCH considers mental health awareness a top priority in education. We care about ending the stigma so that those who struggle know that they are not alone and there is always someone to whom they can reach out. It is essential that kindness, understanding, and care for others is at the centre of what HCH is and continues to be. An important part of that is seeing people as individuals, who struggle in different areas, and who always deserve support and consideration, and the respect we all hope for: to be defined by our actions and humanity towards others rather than by our personal difficulties.
