To all donators

This page has been set up by the staff at HMP the Mount physical education department. Every year the department organise completing the Fire Service 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for charity. The charity that we raise money for every year is the Hospice of St Francis. This is a hospice for patients in the later stages of cancer. This is a local hospice to the Mount and some members of staff have had family members/ friends who have benefited from the care provided in their times of need.

The team will be attempting to achieve a gold medal by means of scaling Ben nevis, Scaffel pike and Snowdon totaling 21.7 climbing miles and covering the 521 road miles between the three peaks in a time under twenty hours.

This years team consist of:

Mark Kates "the baby"

Tony Oliver "Ollie"

Steven Fitzsimmons "Fitz"

Jim Leonard "Lenny bear dramas"

Drivers:

Ian Harris "Bomber"

Martin Arris "Arris"

Director of oxygen wastage:

David Richardson "Richo" (Sponsored by SAGA and Stena lifts)

Please give generously to our charity all the money does go to a very worthy cause. We thank you all for your help and assistance in making this another successful and worthwhile event.

We have now agreed with the Hospice to raise a new target to purchase a specific piece of specialist equipment.

The following was sent to us by the Hospice fundraising manager:

Your email is very timely as yes we do need something very specific which will cost between £2000 and £2500 - It's a specialist mattress.

We have just been given a brand new bed (courtesy of Boxmoor Trust) however the bed does not include a mattress.

The mattress is pressurised, to control pressure sores and has a special coating for infection control.  It's also extremely flexible and can move and bend, thus adding to the comfort of our patients.
