Story

Dear Friends,

I am writing to inform you of my intention of participating, for second consecutive year, in the Nice Ironman on 27 June (www.ironmanfrance.com).

What is an "Ironman"?

For those of you who were wondering, an Ironman is a long distance triathlon which includes: A 3.8 km swim (in this case in the sea), 180km on bike and a 42.2km run.

Given I didn't think this was enough of a challenge, my aim is to complete it in under 9hrs 45min, which should put me in a good position to potentially qualify for Hawaii's World Championships.

Why?

As I did last year, with this effort I would like to highlight the idea that Man is free and can achieve whatever he puts his mind and will to. There are no limits to what can be achieved.

To a certain extent, I would like my race to symbolise the spirit of overcoming difficulties which I believe should guide us through life.

I would therefore ask for your help in sponsoring the "The Bobath Centre", a not for profit organisation which follows these ideals.

The Bobath Centre

"The Bobath Centre" (http://www.bobath.org.uk/) works to give full care and assistance to people of all ages suffering from cerebral palsy or who have sustained brain injuries.  I firmly believe that on our own way up we must never stop working for those to whom life has been less generous, without this being in any way incompatible with the ideals of a meritocratic society.

I hope many of you will join me in this effort which has been my guide over countless hours and needless to say countless kilometres over the last years.

Regards,

Hugo
