Story
My name is Jessica and I have gorgeous hip-length hair. Unfortunately I also have a disabling illness called Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME), which causes debilitating exhaustion from everyday activities. This means I can’t think (cognitive dysfunction or brain fog), I can’t go to college full-time, I can’t see my friends as often as I’d like, I can’t go out by myself as I get lost easily! I’ve not been able to attend school full-time since Y10, I’ve missed friends birthday parties and family Christmas get-togethers. The month before I got ME I was enjoying a two week family camping holiday and body-boarding every day I could, I couldn’t do this now.
I've had ME for the past four and a half years and I desperately want to get my life back on track. I have plans to go to university, learn to free-dive and become a mermaid.
My long hair requires attention and upkeep (i.e. brushing and washing) on a regular basis which, due to the ME, I can't manage. Consequently I have decided to say goodbye to my long hair and have a sponsored haircut to raise money for the Ramsay Research Fund. Hopefully this will make my life a little easier and bring us closer to finding a cure.
All 20" of my hair will be donated to Little Princess Trust to make wigs for children and young people suffering from hair loss.
NEW DATE: The haircut is booked for the 10th April 2018.
