The mission of Gene People is to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by genetic conditions through the provision of resources and support both directly to those affected, and to the hundreds of disorder-specific patient groups that have been established in the UK.

Story

So every year, here at Haldon House Surgery, we take part in Jeans for Genes day, raising money for the Genetic Disorder UK Charity.

However, this year, we want to make it bigger than just wearing our jeans and donating money - because it means more this year.

One of our colleagues has a family friend who's daughter has Krabbe's Disease. Her name is Phoebe. Krabbe's disease is a severe neurological condition, usually found in children with a life expectancy of 2 years. At the moment, there is only 8 children in the UK with this condition - it's extremely rare.

So here at Haldon House, we want to do our bit to help find cures for these horrible genetic disorders.

On Monday 14th September, we are going to wear our jeans, have a cupcake sale (in-house due to Covid-19) and play 'name the baby' using baby photos of all the staff here.

If you have any spare money, your donation would be greatly appreciated - and well spent finding cures for people like Phoebe.

Thank you for reading.
