This year, I’ve decided to take on the Swansea Half Marathon — not just for the challenge, but to raise funds and awareness for an issue that’s incredibly prevalent all around us, and yet so easy to overlook: homelessness.

For over 25 years, my Dad has dedicated his time to tackling homelessness, working in a leadership role for a charity at home in Bristol. Within his work, he’s helped countless individuals and families find shelter, stability, and has made incredible bonds and friendships along the way, and so I want to do something in honour of that.

Now that I am living and studying in Wales, it seems only fitting that I would run in support of Shelter Cymru, a charity that strives for the same goal, tackling this very same crisis.

The commitment and compassion I have grown up watching has always inspired me, and created an understanding of the amazing work that all of the people within this field do day in day out. It's not just about providing a roof over someone's head, but about creating real change and support for those who need it most.

All donations raised will go directly to supporting housing initiatives and frontline services that defend the right to a safe home and fight the devastating impact the housing emergency has on people and society, helping vulnerable people move off the streets and into secure, supported accommodation — the kind of work both Shelter Cymru, my dad and his colleagues do every single day.
