Highland Cross 2016 · 18 June 2016 ·

Highland Cross is a 50 mile duathlon (walking or running 20 miles and cycling 30 miles) across Scotland from Kintail to Beauly. The event is organised by volunteers to raise funds for charities across the Highlands. Since 1983, over £6.3m has been raised and distributed in full to deserving causes.

Story

The route of the Highland Cross runs from the west to the east coast of Scotland. It involves a 20 mile run from sea level at Loch Duich into the Affric hills and then a 30 mile cycle ride to Beauly. For many years I have watched competitors whizz past my home and in a moment of madness I now find myself competing. All the funds raised go directly to local charities in the Highlands of Scotland including The Archie Foundation and SOAR Youth Projects.
