Story

Here's a confession…..

In the last few weeks I’ve seen hundreds of references to the Ice Bucket Challenge (please keep reading, this is important to me).  I’ve watched as celebrities and ‘civilians’ have had ice tipped over them on YouTube clips to raise money for something called ALS.  Like many others, I’ve registered the acronym and moved on without investigation.  Now here’s the thing.  My dad died of Motor Neurone Disease.  Guess what they called that in the United States?  Yep, ALS.  I had no idea until my dad’s sister (my Aunt) challenged me and I investigated.  It’s a grim, degenerative condition with no cure.  In memory of my dad – and as a vital reflex against my complacency – I accept my aunt’s challenge. I’m raising money for Motor Neurone Disease.   Please give a few quid if you can.  I would be grateful.  Oh, and I might do the challenge with a twist.  I don’t know what I’ll do yet, but I’ll let you know.  Again, please donate if you can – and please spread the word using the links above.
