I am raising money for Greenpeace because I believe that they are taking steps which will help to protect the coast I will be paddling around, and by doing so keep the area pristine for those who follow. In addition to this Greenpeace are strong supporters of sustainable fishing and stand up for small scale fishing operations-which is an activity under threat in Ireland.  

My personal story is the circumnavigation itself. Ireland has been circumnavigated by kayak before, but never in a traditional Greenland skin-on-frame boat with a traditional Greenland paddle. A expedition of this scale is something of a vote in confidence in traditional methods. In addition to this I will be the youngest person to complete the expedition, at nineteen.
