Story

Hampshire Fare will be displaying this fantastic mirrored mosaic hare sculpture at some of our events in 2023 and we are offering an amazing hamper of fabulous Hampshire food and drink as a prize to the person who can most closely guess the number of mirrored tiles on The Wishing Hare (provided they have allowed us to contact them when making the donation)

More details on the fabulous Hamper and Hampshire Fare can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Ultimatehamper

All you have to do is make a £5 donation and put your guess as to how many mirrored tiles are on the hare in the comments box when donating. If you want to donate more you can make more guesses (eg donate £20 and put 4 guesses in the comments box). Please tick the box to share your contact details with Hampshire Fare when making the donation  so we can tell you whether you have won, otherwise you wont be eligible for the prize!

The hare was part of the 2022 Hares of Hampshire art trail in Winchester and Southampton and was created by artist Sophie Handy, who introduces it with the following words:

"Inspired by the evocative story The Wishing Chair, this special hare seeks to remind us that wherever we are we can take ourselves on adventures everyday of our lives. With a leap of faith and an open imagination we can find magic all around us. Make a wish, sit with it quietly for a while and then from your heart let it go, watch it fly away. Keep your eyes and ears open, as one day, it will surely come and say hello. What will you find on the Wishing Hare?... “

The Murray Parish Trust aims to improve the treatment of very ill children across the eight counties the South of England who are served by the Southampton Children's Hospital.

About the charity

Founded by actors Sarah Parish and Jim Murray in memory of their late daughter Ella-Jayne, we support projects at Southampton Children’s Hospital which advance and enhance children’s healthcare, including mental health, beyond that which is possible through NHS funding.
