Story
From 8pm on the 23rd August to 8pm on the 24th August, Pro Corda students and alumni will come together to take part in a 24 hour quartet-athon of non-stop chamber music. Pro Corda is seen as the UK’s centre of excellence for ensemble training, which aims to provide world class musical tuition, and equip each student with skills which are fundamental in the world of work. Alongside their work with young musicians, Pro Corda is the only UK music school which allocates equal course time each year to young people with special educational needs as to those without, fuelled by their belief that music is an intrinsic right, and should be accessible to everybody. As students, we have all reaped so much from our experiences on Pro Corda courses, so we are eager to support the Pro Corda Trust, to ensure that the coming generations of young musicians are able to share a similarly wonderful experience.
The Quartet-athon will be run on sponsorships and donations. On this page, you can sponsor a select student taking part, or alternatively you may wish to request a certain piece to be played during the 24 hours, alongside a donation. During the final hour, there will be a concert as part of the Fish and Chips series, starting at 6:30pm (Friday 24th August). Tickets cost £10.
