Istanbul to Izmir is a distance of 327km - my family and I made this journey recently as part of our move to work in Turkey. We are about to set up home in a place that we do not know and that is far from family and friends.
We have done this before but it does not make it any easier - the move and change is always challenging and has put huge stresses on us individually and as a family. It is at times like these that we recognise how important it is to have someone we feel we can talk with, someone we know we can turn to who will listen and offer support.
Many people feel that they do not have anyone who will listen despite being surrounded. Many people are at risk because they believe they are alone and cannot cope. We want to help and would love you to support us in our cycling goal.
By raising awareness of the risks of suicide, by learning how to recognise the signs of those in need of help, and by being there to listen, we can help to prevent people taking their lives. We will cycle in aid of World Suicide Prevention Day 2018 to do just this. Please help us by pledging money as we contribute mileage to Cycle Around the Globe. Thank you, The Haywards.
