The Israeli Association for the Support and assistance of children with cancer and their families, Zichron Menachem in the UK arranges and pays for respite camps for the children and their parents. It also encourages the donation of hair to bring a smile to a child suffering from cancer's face by the provision of a made to measure wig and so restore their self-confidence.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am Hannah Landsman and I have decided to have my hair cut and for my hair to be made into a wig.  I have been growing my hair for the last two years so that I can donate it to make a wig.

Why do it?  A few years ago, a pupil at my school had her hair cut in front of the whole school.  I learnt that she did this so that her hair could be made into a wig to be used by children who have lost their hair.  These children have cancer and, as I am sure you know, the treatment for cancer is severe and causes the patient’s hair to fall out.  I cannot imagine how they cope with losing their hair however I can only guess how much better they will feel by wearing a wig. How their confidence would be restored.

Another reason why I am doing this is because the mother of a friend of mine has cancer, consequently, as a result of her treatment, she has lost all her hair.  She now wears a wig that makes her feel normal and gives her more confidence to carry out her life as if everything is okay.

I have chosen to donate the sponsorship I receive to Zichron Menachem as it is a charity that concentrates on helping children and their families.  The facilities that they provide, help boost their patient’s self-esteem, the wigs they provide, help the child to fit in, not to be singled out and to help everyone live a normal life.

I hope that you agree with my thoughts and reasoning as to why I want to do this, and I hope that you will help by sponsoring me.

Thank you
