Jed and Ham volunteer as teachers · 9 July 2014

It strives to contribute to the education of pupils at the School in Tanzania. It does this by raising money for the improvement of buildings and equipment at the school and also by providing bursaries and scholarships for children of the area.

Story

Jed and I are leaving the rat race of London to volunteer in sub-Saharan Africa. We will be volunteering  at DCT Mvumi Secondary School, a rural school funded by charitable donations providing much-needed education to around 500 pupils, including a growing number of visually impaired children.

Jed and I will be working alongside permanent staff in a variety ways; teaching History and English, running extra-curricular activities, exploring professional development methods with staff, empowering female pupils to overcome the specific challenges they face and no doubt so much more!

We are hoping to raise enough money to not only reimburse the charity for our flights to Tanzania but also to make contributions to their project of installing solar panels. This is an effort towards making the school, one day, self-sufficient.

Giving money is very easy with Just Giving and you will be helping a community who will (hopefully!) benefit from us being there!
