Harriet's Dry April

Harriet Butler is raising money for Tabithas Toys

Dry April · 1 April 2016

It loans sensory toys and equipment to children in NE England with complex special needs. Often the children are too poorly to go out to school or sensory centres so they need the toys at home. The special toys give happiness and joy to very special children.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm giving up alcohol in April. I know most people do a dry January but people who know me know I'm normally late for everything so this is fitting. These people will also know that this is going to be pretty hard for me- I love wine. I can't remember the last weekend that I didn't have a drink (it's bad, I know). So here's to a challenging month *cheers*

My cousin Tabitha had Edwards syndrome and Tabitha's Toys was set up in memory of her after she passed away. It is a charity which loans sensory toys to children with special needs.

Many parents and carers cannot take their children to sensory rooms in sports centers or schools as the children are often too poorly, transport maybe a problem and some children may need the equipment at special times that suit them, like three o’clock in the morning as many have poor sleep patterns. Therefore, it is essential that these children have this equipment at home.
