ANNA HORRELL – BRAINWAVE 100 SPONSORED BIKE RIDE
Thanks for visiting our Just Giving page.
Some of you will know the Horrell’s, a family (some may say a dynasty!) from Bythorn. We have known and been close to them for some 30 years. Their youngest son, Charlie, is Rob’s closest friend and indeed, he will be Rob’s best man in May. We hope his Mum and Dad will be at the wedding too.
But in August last year Anna and her family received an
almighty shock. She was diagnosed as having a very aggressive grade IV brain cancer. Since then she has undergone a tough regime of radio therapy and
chemotherapy. Unfortunately, without new ground breaking drugs that aren’t available through NHS or private clinics the tumour cannot be prevented from
returning.
However, a cutting edge treatment is being developed in The United States. It involves creating a vaccine from the patient’s tumour which promotes the immune system to fight the tumour. The family see this as their
one chance to give Anna a positive way forward and as you can imagine, they are desperate to make it happen.
The cost of the treatment? £200,000!!
On 16 April we will be taking part in the Brainwave 100
sponsored bike ride of up to 100 miles across the counties of Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. The Horrell’s are aiming to raise £100,000 from
this first event. Some of our family have never biked more than a couple of miles around Rutland Water so this is no gentle day out! Your sponsorship will
be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Andy, Caroline, Rachael, Mark, Rob and Jess
