5K Stroke Survivor Run · 8 February 2020

ARNI Stroke Charity actively helps families by advancing the rehabilitation of people suffering from the effects of stroke and other brain injuries. It does this by giving people the tools to help themselves progressively to regain action control, physical coping strategies, strength and confidence.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I  have had 2 strokes, the first just after my 16th birthday, and lost all use of my left arm and leg. I spent 6 months in hospital learning to walk, shower, and concentrate again. After these amazing NHS services finished, there was little specialist support available locally and I knew I still had so much further to go. I met Tom at ARNI and suddenly the future seemed brighter, as he supported me to relearn skills and see a positive future ahead. As a stroke survivor himself, his unique insight, constant affirmation of my newly developed skills, and belief that I could do the impossible, have transformed my rehabilitation. My 5k run is a goal I set with him, and my Just Giving page is a way to make sure that other stroke survivors of all ages can have the same opportunities to spend time with Tom and his amazing team of ARNI trainers.
