Blindfold Run 2015 · 20 September 2015 ·

RSBC believe every blind child and their family should have the skills and confidence they need to live their life without limits. We work with blind children and young people and their families to develop the skills they need to overcome the barriers to realising their hopes, dreams and ambitions.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Most of our friends know that we have run together in lots of races, running is something we are both very passionate about and love the challenge of trying to achieve new personal bests every time. We also try to get the best out of each other.

We have decided to do the RLSB (The Royal London Society For Blind People) charity 10K blindfold run for many reasons. One of these is that we would love to make a difference and transform the lives of so many blind and vision impaired young people. This unique event works with runners working in pairs. One person is blindfolded and tethered to a sighted runner, who narrates the twists and turns of the track to make it round the 10K course. Harry and I have decided to swap roles at the 5K mark so we will both experience the feeling of running blindfolded.

Another reason is that we know that this will be an extra challenge for us both because we have never experienced running blindfolded before and we know we will thoroughly enjoy the challenge. The thought of running blindfolded is extremely scary. Due to the fact Harry is profoundly Deaf from birth this makes it even more challenging, we will have to use different communication methods while blindfolded. Other runners who might be hearing or blind can communicate through speech to support each other. Before the race we will figure out the best way to communicate with one another during the 10K.
