Story
The reason for my choice is not only because of my emotional links with the Army, having grown up in that environment, but also because it is one of the oldest Army charities to be founded since the Second World War which needs continual support and fund raising, particularly in these very apparent times.
For 65 years the Army Benevolent Fund is the Soldiers Charity, providing support to serving soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of need.
The people we support include those with disabilities or mental illness, people experiencing homelessness or unemployment, and older people.
Dependent on voluntary donations, the ABF must currently raise around £5.5 million each year to continue its vital work with members of the Army Family.
It would be fantastic, after all this tedious training, to achieve a respectable time and raise loads of money for a great cause. Your support and generosity will be most appreciated, not only by me, but from the thousands of soldiers and their families that need it most.
