Harvey's Skydive for Bipolar UK

Sunday, May 9th 2010, was the day I saw my Mum walk up the driveway, take my brother, sister and I into her bedroom and break the devastating news that our Dad had passed away and wasn't coming home.
I will never forget that day but eight years on, I finally feel ready to share my story and in remembrance of my Dad, I will be doing a skydive for Bipolar UK on June 10th 2018.
My Dad was an engineer by trade and although cars were his passion, he could build and create anything with his hands.
He was well-known for being multi-talented and his legacy lives on today amongst people who knew him and still miss him greatly.
In fact, even now I meet people that tell me his death has left a void that has not and will never be filled.
A charitable event with an engine felt right, and although it may seem cliché, an experience up in the clouds rather than down on Earth feels more fitting and personal to me.
Mental health is such an important issue that needs focus on around the World, and in particular bipolar disorder, a condition that people really don’t understand.
It has a detrimental impact on your mood and a massive effect on so many peoples’ lives. Not only the sufferers but family and friends as well.
By taking part in this event, I want to raise awareness and money for Bipolar UK as it is extremely personal to me.
I hope my endeavours will continue to help all those affected by this condition.
There really was nobody and is nobody else like him.
This is for you, Dad. I love you and I miss you. I hope you'll be proud x
