Harvey is going to be taking part in 'The run Northampton' on 2nd October 2011. He will be taking part in the 1k run to raise money for CHECT - Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.
Harvey was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma (childhood eye cancer) in May 2008 (he was only 14 months of age). Harvey had to have his right eye removed due to having a large cancerous tumour which was left undetected, when it was diagnosed it was found that Harvey had lost sight in his right eye due to the tumour causing severe retinal damage.2 days after diagnosis Harvey was Taken to Birmingham Childrens Hospital for an emergency enucleation (eye removal) and has since been fitted with an artificial eye.
This is a very rare cancer but awareness is important as undetected can be life threatening.Harvey still has to undergo regular checks in his left eye as he has the genetic form of this cancer which means he also is at risk of developing further tumours in his left eye.Harvey also has a fifty percent chance of passing this onto any siblings he may have in the future. Please support him in raising money for this charity which sadly develops in young children like Harvey mainly under the age of 5. Sponser Harvey and his friends now........Thankyou
