RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

Well, after seven months training for it, the marathon has come and gone. Happily I finished it in a personal best time of 5 hours 8 minutes, arriving 6 mintes after Ed and 8 minutes after Jamie. Boy was it hot though!

My longest training run had been 20 miles on a breezy Sunday morning and had taken me 3hrs 8minutes, so to run for an extra 2 hours in extreme heat was not something I was prepared for!

However, you will be pleased to hear, dear sponsor, that the biggest thing to keep me going to the end , when I started to suffer at 16 miles, was the kindness, generosity and commitment of you my sponsors and the thought that I would be letting so many people down.

So thank you for your incredibly generous support and for getting me over that line, because otherwise the day would not have been as much fun as, on reflection, it was!

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I am running the London marathon along with my brother Ed and Jamie Saunders.

We are running in memory of my brother Jason, Jamie's brother Rupert and James Meaby who sadly died in a fatal sailing accident off the Isle of Wight last August

The three were close friends who enjoyed life to the full and were loved and respected by their families and numerous friends.

I am raising money for the RNLI- the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, who did so much last year in their search and rescue operation in the hope and expectation that they would be able to save yet more lives at sea.

The RNLI has over 330 lifeboats in service and is entirely funded by donations so any sponsorship that you can give makes a real difference. In 2005 they rescued over 8000 people.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thank you for your kind support.
