Pollokshields (Glasgow) wasn't a great place in the 90's. I remember growing up and spending a lot of the time at the wee school (Pollokshields primary school on Melville street). As a ten year old I would spend my days after school playing football there or climbing up the school roof to watch the big gangsters fight. Not to mention their names, some of them till this day are behind bars.
My father would come and take me home, whilst on the way chastising me for hanging with the wrong crowd. At the age of 11 I was sent to boarding school. A wee lad from shields. 8 years later I had graduated with good GCSE results, completed the D.N course and was ready for Al-Azhar University. Today I look back and think had my father not sent me away, I would probably be.......
There are dozens of people would tell you a similar story and say that Jamia Al-Karam changed their life. Alhumdullilah, many of my Jamia friends went back to university and become successful university graduates and others joined me to become scholars. This is all due to the prayers of our parents, the dedication of our teachers, and above all the sacrifices of our beloved shaykh, Shaykh Pirzada.
Please support the school with whatever you can and always remember Al-Karam in your prayers.
