Story

All working at the Hat Trick Group (TV Production) the Hat Trekkers are: Adam Reeve, Angela Sinden, Anna Johnston, Armen Seridarian, Cassandra Toller, Charlotte Regan, Claire Broughton, Dan Lee, Daniel Brierley Diggory Waite, Gill Wilson, Hana Zidek, Jack Ryan, Jen Bollom, Kate Wilson, Kate Middleditch, Kat Mace, Kate Miller Kelly Mulcair,  Kelly Ridout, Laura Zwaga, Leo Manning, Leonora Hitchcock, Lillie King, Louis Jenkin, Malena McFarlane, Nick Coupe, Paul Cohen, Rafal Osypiuk, Roya Eslami, Sarah Cartwright, Sian Stranks, Stu Mather,  and Valerie Okotume.

Our group of volunteers are going to pound our way through the total distance from London to Bhubaneswar (the capital of Odisha a state in north east India) AND BACK AGAIN. In all we've got to cover 9920 miles, or almost 16,000km in new money, to raise money for Friends of the Children of Orissa (FOCO). We've got just 6 months to cover the distance.

We'll do it by whatever means necessary - running, walking, cycling or dancing - basically whatever clocks up the miles. Some of us will be setting individual exercise challenges and others will be joining in with some group challenges including weekly walks and a bike ride from London to Cambridge. You can keep up with how far we've covered at our Challenge hound page here: https://widgets.challengehound.com/challenge-status/1a35be30-43a4-11ec-af4e-d16b5331cefb (cut and paste into your browser)

FOCO is an amazing charity that works with vulnerable children in Bhubaneswar, India. They support two partners to provide over 400 children, mostly vulnerable girls, with full-time board and schooling, as well as rescuing children at risk of being trafficked on the railway network.

The school (known as PUSS) provides the girls with good education and loving care so they can leave school and go onto further education and formal employment. Without the school, these children would be facing a lifetime with few opportunities. Instead, PUSS provides the girls with the opportunity of a happy, safe and fulfilling future.

FOCO also supports SOCH to rescue runaway and lost children from the railways. They reunite children with their families (where appropriate) or find them secure homes they can be safe in. They run a number of other amazing projects including rehabilitation camps for street children and education bridge opportunities for young boys who have been unable to continue with schooling.

Our team are loving all the good will and support from our friends and family but our projects will appreciate your monetary donations much more. Please donate what you can to this amazing charity and help us reach and exceed our £3000 goal. Rather amazingly Hat Trick's MD Jimmy Mulville has also pledged to DOUBLE our fundraising if we get to our goal. So actually every pound you give will be worth twice as much.

Just £25 pays for a month's boarding and education for one girl at PUSS. and £50 is the average cost of rescuing a child from the railway network at risk of being trafficked for labour or sexual exploitation. We've visted these projects directly and have seen the work in action. FOCO is run by volunteers so every penny raised goes directly to the Indian NGOs.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
