Weldmar's Midnight Walk 2017 · 15 July 2017 ·
On the 15th of July, 6 of us are walking a 10 mile Brazilian carnival themed overnight walk for Weldmar hospice care.
Not much of a challenge you might think, in fact it just sounds fun. Well, hopefully it will be, though for some of us the challenge of staying awake after 10pm is just as great as walking 10 miles!
But this isn't about personal challenge, its about raising awareness and funds for this fabulous charity that provides such a great service, with very little government funding, relying on local sources to raise 75% of their finances to cover costs of almost £15,000 a day.
Weldmare hospice care is an independent charity in Dorset providing specialist palliative care to those affected by life limiting diseases. They work with both patients and their families providing support, medical advice, alternative treatments, counselling and if required in-patient care, all free of charge. Their aim is to enable patients and their families to carry on with their lives as normally as possible providing support and care so they can stay in their own homes as long as possible, getting the most out of every day.
At that terrible time of loneliness following diagnosis of a life threatening disease, the team of this wonderful organisation are there to provide comfort, knowledge, understanding, care, hope and even a sense of humour at this terrible and difficult time.
By doing this walk we've already raised £100 for this great cause. If you'd like to add to this, no matter by how much, you can donate through our team just giving page below. As they say, every little helps........
With love
