The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Our care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. We rely on donations to raise the £5m we need each year to fund our free care.

In April 2015 Hayley was unexpectedly diagnosed with bowel cancer. Her cancer was advanced and we were told that it was stage 4A which means it had metastasised to her liver.

After speaking to the Macmillan nurses, Hayley was referred to Fay at the hospice of St. Francis where she had an initial meeting with Fay about Hayley's state of mind as Hayley was always 100% positive about it all. Fay totally understood Hayley from day one and made her feel totally at ease.

Hayley underwent a treatment of chemotherapy where there were good and bad days, On the tough days, The hospice were always on the end of the phone and many times offered Hayley respite where she could be cared for through those rough times.

After a long stay at Stoke Mandeville hospital with a serious infection. Hayley was transferred to the hospice of St. Francis as a means of making her more comfortable with palliative care where she didn't want for anything at all.

The care Hayley and her family were given at the hospice was truly outstanding.
