Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.

Story

I have a hearing loss and have been lucky to have enjoyed the companionship and support of three hearing dogs over the last 20 years. I know personally that loss of hearing isn’t just about the practical things in life becoming more difficult; such as hearing everyday sounds and being made aware of signals in and outside the home - hearing loss can also lead to a profound sense of isolation.

Technology has undoubtedly improved the lives of deaf people but it cannot match the emotional confidence that a partnership like the one between me and my wonderful hearing dog Bass can bring. Hearing dogs like Bass don’t just offer a practical alternative to technical equipment, they provide a way back to connecting with the world on every level.

Over 30 years, through the kindness of people like you, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People has helped bring happiness to more than 1,600 deaf people like me. With hearing loss on the rise – up to 1 in 6 nationwide – your fantastic generosity is needed more than ever before. I am asking you to continue to help make a difference, allowing the Charity to offer a hearing dog to many more of the deaf people who could benefit from one.

Please support this appeal and help more puppies become so much more than a hearing aid and make a life-changing difference to even more deaf people in the future.
