The brain is the most complex organ in our body. It controls our emotions, senses and actions. So when it breaks down, we break down. We fund the best research to discover the causes, develop new treatments and improve the lives of those affected. Let’s unite to accelerate progress. Today.

Story

On the 22nd May David and I will be running the Edinburgh Marathon.  We have chosen to raise money for the Brain Research Trust (BRT), one of the UK’s leading charities in the field of neurological research.  BRT's support helps further research into Alzheimer's, brain tumours, multiple sclerosis, stroke, Parkinson's, epilepsy, motor neurone disease, migraine, CJD, brain trauma and spinal cord regeneration.

These conditions affect the lives of many people in the UK, either directly or indirectly.  My Grandad died of a brain tumour when I was  young and more recently a close family friend, Lisa Whittaker, died at just 26 years old whilst undergoing treatment for a brain tumour.

Money raised here will go towards research to improve the understanding and treatment of neurological conditions.  This research will help prevent future generations from having to suffer from these conditions and stop families having to experience the loss of loved ones at a young age.

Whilst receiving treatment Lisa maintained a positive can-do attitude; we will adopt her can-do attitude to get us around the course.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.  So please dig deep and donate now; I will only be doing this once!
