The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

I am currently preparing to run the 25th Marathon des Sables in April 2010, in a team of 5. The Marathon des Sables is the one of the hardest footraces on the earth. It is a 155-mile footrace across the Sahara, where it can reach over 130, with competitors having to be self sufficient and carrying provisions to last them the whole week. This is not only physically draining with the sand, heat and stress on the body, but also mentally tough as well. I believe that if I put in the hours in training and use my mental determination that I can complete this epic race and the team achieve their goal of all the team finishing.

The charity that we are donating to is a very special and worthwhile charity that works with the unfortunate people who suffer from cancer. Macmillan is a charity that many of you may have come in contact with or heard of, I am personally aiming to raise £7,000 and as a team collectively we hope to raise £35,000. Guy Muir, the team leader, his mother very sadly passed away due to this disease earlier this year. He has been inspired by this and is going to run his 3rd Marathon des Sables.

This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to run in the race and hopefully become the youngest person from the UK, so please help myself and the team and all those people whom suffer from cancer. Please dig deep and donate now.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
