Loch Ness: Solo and Relay Swims

Loch Ness Solo and Relay Swim Challenges · 14 April 2014
On 19 July I will be taking part in an all-female four person relay swim of Loch Ness. Later in the summer I will attempt to continuously swim the whole 23 mile distance solo. The water is likely to be less than 13C and both swims will be under 'Channel Rules' which means just one standard swimsuit, one swim cap and one pair of goggles. No neoprene allowed.
Conditions on
the Loch are variable and can be challenging
at the best of times. A four person relay is tough enough. A solo swim is
an extreme challenge that records show only 10 people have successfully
completed under channel rules.
I swim because I want to swim and I personally cover all the costs of my swims. However, if you want to and you can, please do donate in support of the volunteers of the RNLI. The RNLI do a fantastic job saving lives around the country. Loch Ness is fortunate to have a station of its own and is crewed by volunteers whom I have witnessed in action on numerous occasions.
