Welcome to our Team Dementia UK campaign for the Great North Run 2019!

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We have different personal experiences of how a diagnosis of dementia can affect
families. Jayne knows first hand the emotional impact it can have on a
person supporting their loved ones through this illness and Helen is
fortunate to work as an Admiral Nurse providing vital support to families
through the helpline.

We both believe every family deserves this specialist support and want to raise
awareness of the charity and the availability of Admiral Nurses.

Through our shared weight loss of over 11 stone and a new found passion for running, we have discovered an enjoyable way to raise funds and stay healthy. As we are
aware that keeping active can greatly reduce the risk of developing dementia,
we would like to encourage others to do the same by participating in our
virtual run event. Although Jayne and Helen will be completing a half marathon
distance, you can select your own distance and how you wish to cover this,
whether it's running, walking, cycling or even crawling!!

Our training for this event has begun and every run we do is working towards our aim of
completing this famous event.

We have also arranged a virtual run for anyone who wishes to join us in our training and a fun way to raise funds for Dementia UK. Get yourself an amazing medal along with the benefits and enjoyment of being active. Follow the link below for further details
