Hello all As my friends will know I love a challenge!! Well..... as I enjoy swimming, the ultimate challenge must be the English Channel 😳 If you swim in a straight line it’s 22 miles 35.4K I’ve been training hard through the winter getting very cold and grumpy. At last the sun has come out and the winter swell has started to calm down! For those of you that don’t know my story.... I lost my husband at 36 years old from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Sophie and my world feel apart. Sophie was just 4 years old. Sophie struggled at Primary School in Bristol feeling totally isolated by her loss. We moved back home to Cornwall so I could then afford to let her go to Truro High School where they had 12 girls to a classroom. Eventually I managed to persuade Sophie to go to Penhaligan’s Friends a charity for bereaved children. I promised if she didn’t like it we could leave at any point. At the end of the session Soph looked at me and said “that’s the quickest 2 hours ever. Can I come next week?” She had finally found a group that “get it, they know how I feel mum”. The dedicated volunteer drivers took Soph to the teen group every Monday after that. This gave me an evening without responsibilities. What to do??? I’ll go to Newquay pool and swim 🏊♀️...... Two of her favourite trips were a residential few days and two days on a clipper out of Falmouth. I would love to raise enough money to cover these two wonderful events for more children in need of love, support and fun days out. I was going to do the swim ‘under the radar’ as I didn’t want to ask people to sponsor me but Sophie asked me to do it for PF so here we are. They are such an incredible team 💕xx
