We raise the profile of lions to save them from extinction

Story

I am walking 12 km in Richmond Park, one of London's Royal Parks,  on Sunday 15 August 2021. Along with other supporters, we are raising money for the charity Lion Aid to help the survival of wild lions cross Africa.

Their future is bleak and wild lions are disappearing at an alarming rate. Human/wildlife conflict, habitat loss, trophy hunting and the scandalous trade in lion bones is pushing them towards extinction.

These lions really do need our help NOW! Sometimes there are no words to talk about the potential horrendous loss of these phenomenal icons roaming across the plains of Africa. What will a world become when lions in the wild become extinct? Lion Aid have estimated that there are now only about 10,000 lions in the wild and their numbers are rapidly declining.

Lion Aid projects work with indigenous communities in Kenya and help them co-exist with wild lions. There are sustainable benefits for rural communities and for lions in the wild. Find out more detail by going to the Lion Aid website   http://www.lionaid.org/

Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page and supporting Lion Aid's cause for Wild Lions in Africa!

LionAid is a small but highly effective charity, based in the UK, focused mainly but not exclusively on the conservation of lions, which are facing catastrophic declines in the wild. We believe that there are now only five viable lion populations left in Africa and one small population in India.
