Story
On Saturday 8th July 2023 I will be taking part in the Big Welsh Swim. The swim will take place in Llyn Padarn, Padarn Country Park, Llanberis, Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. I will be swimming one length of the lake which is 3km.
I have chosen the ROHHAD Association as my nominated charity as my daughter Niamh’s good friend Leah was diagnosed with ROHHAD syndrome in 2017. At the time of Leah’s diagnosis less than 100 children in the world had been diagnosed with this condition!
Leah and Niamh have been friends since nursery and have grown very close over the years. Leah sadly had to stop going to school in reception year when her symptoms began and shortly after her tumour was discovered. Leah has spent much of her young life in and out of hospital and eventually ROHHAD was diagnosed. ROHHAD is an extremely rare, life threatening and life limiting condition that receives no government funding whatsoever. I hope to raise as much funding and awareness as possible in the hope of one day finding a cure for Leah and all the children suffering with ROHHAD.
