Story

They did it!

Congratulations guys.

Awaiting times and details but here are some photographs from the day.

Thank you everyone for your amazing donations.

My son Arran 5.  Arran has a rare chromosomal disorder, so rare that it doesn't have a name, just a numeric location.  So rare that there is virtually no research or understanding of the 37 genes Arran is missing on one of his number 5 chromosomes.  So rare that we have yet to find another child in the world with the same genetic makeup.  Ok, that's the science bit over.

Arran is a truly unique child, and has a very unusual, rare and complex multiple sensory impairment.  Imagine seeing life through a kaleidoscope, your brain not being able to form pictures of what it sees, or making sense of it. Now try and add a similar filter to your hearing, where normal conversation is translated into alien gibberish.  If you can, apply further filters to your other senses.  It is a world where nothing received through the senses is processed normally, a world it is impossible to understand, welcome to Arran's world.  Arran is registered blind (severely sight impaired) and has many medical conditions, but it is the sensory processing anomalies that are the biggest barrier to his development.  Sense (Scotland) support Arran in so many ways, including providing specialist teachers, family support and information.  Their work is very 'hand's on' and their support and commitment to Arran is life long.

Paul, Gus and Neil are close family friends, and school friends of my husband Steve.  They are godfathers to our children, with Paul being Arran's godfather.  They have been an invaluable and constant support to our family as we have adjusted to life with a disabled child over the last few years.  We are incredibly moved that they have committed to the daunting 3 Peaks Challenge to raise funds for Sense (Scotland) who support Arran.

The 3 Peaks Challenge involves climbing Ben Nevis (1344m), Scafell Pike (978m)  and Snowdon (1085m) within 24 hours.  It is a lot harder than it looks, involving months or training, organisation and complex logistics. Gus's brother Robin is providing driving services for the day, which on it's own is a challenge in itself!

I hope you like the photo gallery, we have a considerable back catalogue of similar pictures which I will upload as funds are raised.

Thank you for supporting the boys in this insane quest, and any donations for the amazing charity Sense (Scotland).
