Although we had a special funeral for John/dad, it was difficult to celebrate his life without the many others who loved him.
Christmas was undoubtedly his favourite time of year. It therefore seems fitting to hold a Christmas service in his memory. Unfortunately, the present climate still makes it unsuitable for us to gather in person and we do not wish to put any extra, avoidable pressure on our health system. We will, therefore, share a special Christmas service of remembrance and celebration of his life on Wednesday 22 December at 7pm. The service will include contributions and reflections from some of those whose lives he touched and can be accessed via Helena’s (and John’s) Facebook page:

We had to say goodbye at the height of lockdown and it is unimaginable how painful that would have been without the support and expertise of the Northern Ireland Hospice. Like all charities, it has been hit hard by the health pandemic as its funding opportunities diminished. We are, therefore, very keen to give back in John’s/dad’s memory to an organisation that we hold very close to our hearts.
