As you may already know, I've been selected to go overseas and volunteer for International Service on an International Citizen Service (ICS) in Ghana!!

(You may have heard I was going to Burkina Faso and you would be right ! Unfortunately due to schedule changes I have been moved to a different project in Ghana)

Volunteering for a humanitarian cause is something I have always wanted to do and now I finally have the chance to make a difference in the world, but I need your help. :) 

My challenge is to raise £800 towards the work of International Service and their ICS partners. This money will go towards the overall costs of ICS allowing them to keep sending youth volunteers to work on projects in the developing world and make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities.

 The project I will be participating in is a new project called REACT which aims to tackle the stigma around disability by training visually impaired Ghanaian people and non-disabled people to play the inclusive Paralympic sport of goalball.
We will also be raising awareness about disabilities through interactive discussions in local communities and on local radio.

I am very excited to be taking place in such an important project and while I know it will be challenging I truly believe we can help improve these people's lives by giving them an opportunity to push their self-development.

Comme vous le savez sans doute déjà, j'ai été sélectionnée par ICS (service civique internationale) pour participer à un projet de bénévolat au Ghana !!

(Vous avez peut être entendu dire que j'allais au Burkina Faso, malheureusement j'ai du transféré vers un autre de projet à cause d'un changement de dates)

Faire du volontariat pour une cause humanitaire à toujours  été important pour moi et j'ai enfin la chance de pouvoir faire une différence dans le monde, mais j'ai besoin de votre aide.

Mon défi est de relever des fonds de £800 (env. €910) pour soutenir le travail de l'association Service International et ses partenaires ICS. L'argent récolté permettra à ICS de pouvoir maintenir ses missions à l'étranger, continuer à envoyer des jeunes travailler sur des projets dans des pays en développement et faire une vraie différence dans la vie des personnes moins fortunées.

Le projet auxquel j'apporte mon soutien est un tout nouveau projet appelé REACT qui vise à lutter contre la stigmatisation liée au handicap en formant des Ghanéen malvoyants et des personnes non handicapées à jouer au sport paralympique du Goalball. Nous ferons également de la sensibilisation sur les handicaps par le biais de discussions interactives dans les communautés locales et à la radio locale. 

Je suis très contente de pouvoir participer à un projet aussi important et, même si je sais que ce sera difficile, je crois vraiment que nous pouvons aider à améliorer la vie de ces personnes.
