Story
My two sisters and I plus two others are walking The National Three Peaks Challenge in aid of The Anthony Nolan Trust. This means we are covering the main peaks in Scotland, England and Wales!
Our father sadly passed away in November having battled with Leukaemia for 4 years. He was 72 when he died and was able to have a stem cell transplant in the summer 2016 thanks to the Anthony Nolan Trust. This gave him hope and prolonged his life for a year or so longer. During the battle we met many other patients battling with the same disease, some only 30 and others being young mums and dads. The more money we raise for Anthony Nolan the better because it enables people to have a stem cell matched to them, giving these people a second chance to survive blood cancer. A lot of the time they are fully successful and other times it gives that little more time with someone you love.
Walking is what got my father through the illness, he walked every day. It gave him something to aim for and helped him get fit for his main passion; riding.
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. They do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells, to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. They also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. They won’t stop until they save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings them closer to that day.
