I've watched the London Marathon on TV for as far back as I can remember. It's always been an ambition of mine to take part and I'm delighted to have been given the opportunity!

In my early 20s, I started running to keep fit, but quickly realised that I'd never be a speedster! This would normally give me good reason to quit, but found it gave me something quite unexpected. Now I run, jog or plod most days, just to get outside and clear my head. Running changes the way I feel and helps lift away any worries and anxieties I might have, or at least makes the problems I've invented seem much smaller! I'm very grateful that my body, sight and mind give me the freedom to deal with life in this way. 

I'm raising funds for Henshaws, a local charity supporting people living with sight loss and a range of other disabilities. It's college and Arts & Craft Centre offers students a bridge to normal living and look forward to a more positive future
