Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon · 6 October 2013 ·

We raise money to save the lives of people affected by cancer, everywhere. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to save the lives of people affected by cancer.

Story

In memory of my lovely Dad, Rodney, who died from liposarcoma cancer in August 2009, I will be running The Royal Parks Half Marathon in October. I am raising money for the Royal Marsden Hospital's Sarcoma Unit, one of the largest soft-tissue sarcoma units in Europe, whose Doctors cared for Dad during his illness.

Very sadly Dad was (even more) unlucky to be diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer, which represents only about 1% of all cancer cases and about which relatively little is known. That's why it's so important to me to raise awareness of this cancer & contribute towards the Unit's research funds.

I took up running in January '13 so although Dad never knew me as a "runner" I fondly remember him on the sideline of school sports matches, his booming voice urging me on - I don't doubt he'll be supporting me in this challenge!

Any donation, however small, will mean such a great deal to me and to the Royal Marsden's Sarcoma Unit. Thank you! Hx
