Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We aren't ready to slow down yet, and those of you who know Debbie will know that. It's Simon's job to try and keep up! We like to challenge ourselves with some kind of physical challenge every year, as it gets us out the door if we feel lazy.
We love the fresh air and the beauty of our mountains on the doorstep, but we know they have a dark side. We always plan ahead with weather and equipment, but know that not everyone does, and any of us can have an accident. That's when the Brecon Mountain Rescue team are there 24 hours a day to help get people down safely, even save a life.
Simon's daughter, Lauren broke her ankle a couple of years ago when exploring Mynydd Troed, and couldn't walk at all. The whole team were there in no time, and carried her down on a stretcher so she could get to a hospital.
All the work Brecon Mountain Rescue team do is is voluntary, they spend huge amounts of there own time training. Any equipment and expenses incurred working for the benefit of others is paid for by donations.
Debbie and simon plan to do a 'Welsh 3 Peaks', Saturday 18th June if the weather is good. We will start out up Mount Snowden about 6am, then down to Cadair Idris, then our home summit of Pen y Fan. It actually works out just as far and hard as the better known UK 3 Peaks.
Even a small donation will be welcomed, and will support the vital and selfless work of our Rescue team.
