In memory of Hilary Wiles

Story

On 3rd October 2020, Hilary Wiles, passed away from a rare form of Cancer called Angiosarcoma having lived with the disease for eight years.

There is no cure for Angiosarcoma and the prognosis is poor. The disease affects just one in a million people, and as very few doctors have experience in treating it, with no common consensus being reached regarding optimal treatment, a cure in the near future seems improbable.

Despite battling something relatively unknown, Hilary received incredible care from the East Midlands sarcoma team at Nottingham City Hospital. Since 2012, their dedication and support allowed us to make amazing memories including most recently with her Grandson, Arthur.

We are immeasurably grateful to them for their care and relentless hard work.

The Wiles family are raising money for the East Midlands Sarcoma team, with the proceeds going towards allowing them to improve the lives of others in a similar position. We know that this is something that Hilary would have found solace in.

If you are able to support us with a donation, we would be exceptionally appreciative.

The Three Peaks Cycling Challenge

To raise money, starting on Friday 18th June 2021, Hilary's sons Richard and Alex will be completing the Three Peaks Challenge by climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales – Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon – as many have done before. But, we will cycle the hundreds of miles between each peak, completing the route in just three days. In total, that’s over 3,000 metres of mountain to climb and more than 450 miles of cycling.

Friends and family will be joining us on the challenge, and if you would like to get involved for a section of the cycling or climbing a peak, please do get in touch.
