Hi I'm Hollie I'm a seventeen year old Film & English student and a bit of a Charity Junkie ;)

WHAT AM I DOING?

I've seen alot of interesting ways to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Runs, being the biggest and predominant way of raising the dollar. I wanted to do something different. I wanted to do something immediately related to the disease and all the effects. I have decided, with the able help of two ex-cancer sufferers and a few of my close friends to shave my head bald and remove my eyebrows. This mimicks the effects of chemotherapy. One of my friends who was diagnosed with Cervical cancer two years ago said the hardest part of the entire experience was having to deal with Chemotherapy. Wearing a bandana and having no hair made people look at you, and assume things as opposed to outrightly ask you about it. It made her feel incredibly uncomfortable and she wishes people didn't judge her as much as they appeared to in that part of her treatment. For her, it was the worst part. She is a very important person in my life and we agreed after much discussion that shaving my head completely and removing my eyebrows so I looked exactly identical to her would be something pretty awesome to do. But that's not all. Kelis had no hair for three months and I wish to do the same. We've set it for 90 days of hairlessness. No hair on the head, no hair on the face. I will keep it this way. I have people spying on me to make sure haha!

WHY AM I DOING IT?

My hair is my favourite thing (as you can see by the photo I do some crazzzzzzy stuff with it) my hair's the only part of me I actually genuinely love. I tried to put myself in Kelis' position. What would it be like if the one thing you loved was taken away from you? I thought how hard it'd be and how seriously uncomfortable I would be in that situation. This just spurred me to do it some more. It's a testament to Kelis and Melissa who have both suffered Cancer, Melissa unfortunately has got it for the second time, now. She's soon to be going into Chemotherapy again and I think this is a nice way to support her through this time and donate some money directly to the charity as well.

WHAT DO I HOPE TO ACHIEVE?

I obviously want to hit the £1000.00 mark with JustGiving.com and some offline donation and I hope that by doing this and raising the money at the same time Melissa's spirits will be kept up and it might make all the difference in her recovery. I'm not one for fate but you never know!

METHODS OF DONATION?

There's two ways you can donate. My first way is through here. JustGiving.com is totally 100% secure. As well as this, there are GiftAid options if you want to be a part of that.

DONATING ONLINE;

To donate online you will need an active Credit/Debit card. It's laid out kind of like eBay, you enter the card details and how much you wish to donate. You'll be sent a confirmation email with the important details. It's 100% secure, there is absolutely NO WAY your details, your money or anything else will go anywhere else bar the charity featured here. If you've got PayPal you then have the added security from them, as well. You then pop in some details and a message if you want to. Questions/Comments are totally welcome.

OFFLINE DONATION;

I also have the offline donation method. If you are a member of my family/friends you might want to do it that way. I need to take an address, donation sum and give you a reciept. The money is paid onto my Debit Card and then funded straight into the same charity account on JustGiving.com. All the money is going down the exact same avenue. As a proof method I am now sending the details from a statement to you so you have the definitive proof that your money is going to the place you want it to ;)

Just because I'm cool like that ;)

Please support in any way you can. This is something I am doing to raise some cash for an extremely worthwhile charity, pass a message and support some friends.

Over the course of a year Cancer Research UK can make up to and including 67% research progress but not without active funding. That's what I'm aiming to help achieve!

Thanks guys! ;)
