Thames Path Challenge 2021 · 11 September 2021 to 12 September 2021 ·

24x7 Special Needs Holiday Trust supports holidays abroad for people with Special Needs that cannot normally take a holiday due to lack of facility's or finances.

Story

We took part in the Thames path challenge, and walked 50km from Runnymede to Henley on Thames on 12th September 2021.  Now we want to double the challenge and walk 100km through the day and night continuously, in September 2022. We are also hoping to complete the Sahara challenge in Morocco in October 2022.  This will be two marathons over two days across the desert and the Draa valley totalling 52 miles.

“Our route takes us along the spectacular Drâa Valley, covering a distance of about two marathons past ancient mud-brick villages and fortresses, dry mountain plateaus, lush desert oasis, camels and sand dunes. This will be a real test of stamina and adaptability from the start to the finish line on the edge of the desert - two days later. This is no walk in the park – the scenery will be awe-inspiring and you’ll get full support; but you’ll need some grit & determination to complete it in Moroccan sun”!

Money raised will enable families with special needs children to have a holiday abroad at the wonderful Centre Algarve. This centre is fully equipped and accessible and is mainland Europe’s only dedicated holiday centre designed specifically for people with special needs to enjoy.
