Story
Much to the amusement of my family and friends, this summer I will be attempting to learn to ride a road bike. Then all I have to do is cycle 100 miles on it in less than 8 hours. What could possibly go wrong.
Those that know me well, can vouch for the fact that cycling and I have not had the best relationship (flashback to dramatically going over the handlebars at Center Parcs resulting in unconsciousness and forgetting to use my brakes on steep hills endangering the life of both my parents), but on 2nd August I will, for the first time, be cycling in aid of Target Ovarian Cancer, which means however slow up the hills or however many times I fall off it will all be in aid of charity.
Joking aside, I am proud to represent a charity that's sole aim is to help those battling, recovering from or associated in any way with ovarian cancer. Known as 'The Silent Killer' due to the few symptoms and lack of routine screening, it is surprisingly one of the less publicised cancers and as such receives less funding. Even recently some of the most effective drugs have been removed from the NHS, and will therefore only be available at a huge cost, something most can't afford.
Medical research and support assisted by the work of charities such as Target Ovarian Cancer, means that Mum can be there to cheer me on up Box Hill, not just this year but for whatever hare brained idea I have in the years to come. This can only be achieved by continued support and funding.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and your donation.
Now I'm off to buy a bike!
