On Sunday 8th April I will be running the Paris Marathon in aid of SWS RnR - a charity which aims to help wounded combatants to recover from injuries and their experiences by providing week-long adventure holidays in South-West Scotland.

Entering the marathon was a bit of a whimsical decision... however sensing the long winter ahead (and long it has been!), a physical challenge to keep focused through the winter months seemed like a no-brainer.

Training has been challenging particularly during the recent artic conditions... running along the windy River Thames in stupidly low temperatures has been less than ideal but worth it for the post-run food binges!  The furthest distance that I have run thus far is 19 miles.  I have been lucky enough to be joined by both Amy Simmons and Caitlin White (also participating) for some of these training runs, which has definitely made things more bearable.

We are lucky enough to have some very dedicated supporters joining us in Paris and some are even staying behind to celebrate with us afterwards.  However, since not everyone us able to make it to Paris to cheer us on (!), I'm asking if instead, you can please show your support by donating to this very worthy cause...

SWS RnR is a charity which provides much needed and appreciated holidays in Dumfries and Galloway for injured soldiers who have seen active service.  These week-long adventure holidays are a vital step for wounded combatants in recovering from life-changing injuries and experiences.  My family have done numerous fundraising activities for them over recent years and it has become a very important cause to us.
